Meeting Buddy
When I first met Buddy he was shy very shy bloodhound hiding under a table at an adoption event. He was shaking and scared. His big brown eyes were begging me to take him home... So I did. We got him into the car and he smiled at me from the backseat. He knew that good things were about to happen. When we got home he met our dog Mamah, a bossy terrier, and they settled right in together. Unfortunately, Buddy wanted to eat our kitties (He is a bloodhound afterall!) so we were unable to continue fostering him long term and back to the ranch he went. This was about a year ago and even though I couldn't foster Buddy, he always had a special place in my heart.
About a month later, Buddy was adopted by a wonderful family. The only problem, after a day the shy stinker got away during a walk and was lost in Dunn Loring Woods. If you live in the area, then you probably remember the endless flyers we posted. Buddy was a crafty guy and managed to hide out in the woods for almost six months before he was finally caught in a house under construction thanks to his dedicated family, volunteers who never gave up, and a whole lot of luck!
Buddy became famous in the community and amongst LDCRF volunteers. He taught us all that if you want something badly enough, then you will find it! Buddy returned to his family and began his life as a happy hound. He learned how to be a loving pet and is now housetrained, crate trained, and knows all of his basic commands. Most importantly, he learned about walking on leashes!
After Buddy returned to his family, he remained a part of my life. A year later and he still stays with me whenever his family goes on vacation. He always gets along well with my pups (now we have two more dogs in our permanent pack). But sadly, Buddy still wants to eat our kitties, so he can never stay too long and can only be a guest for a week or two. When I do get to steal Buddy away, he is always a good boy. He cuddles with me on the couch and gives me big hound dog kisses. He is always making me smile with his great squishie face and to die for ears. I love the goofball.
Now you're probably wondering why Buddy is looking for a new home after already being so lucky and finding such a great family... Well, Buddy is just not adjusting to a home with small kids. His family has tried, but Buddy would prefer to be the only baby in the house. He loves his children, but he is just too fearful to live with them anymore. So Buddy is looking for a new home and I am going to do my best to help him find it. He just needs a place to feel safe so that he can be the best Buddy that we know he can be!
